| Dr Elizabeth Owen - http://www.drelizabethowen.com Dr Elizabeth Owen qualified from the Royal Free Hospital, London in 1980 and went on to pursue her career in Obstetrics & Gynaecology mainly in London, although she has spent some time overseas doing general surgery and urology. Having passed her Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in 1986, she went on to study for her Doctorate which was awarded in 1993. She undertook research into the menopause, subfertility, polycystic ovaries, IVF and other laboratory based research. She then returned to finish her training at St. Mary’s Hospital, London and was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the West Middlesex University Hospital in 1993. Over the next few years, she developed a particular interest in the more psychological/holistic side of gynaecology and undertook a 2 year course at the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine. In 1999, she spent a year at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, studying for a Masters in Health Professions Education and on her return became the Director of Clinical Studies for Imperial College medical students at the West Middlesex University Hospital. She continues to have her special areas of interest in the menopause, subfertility, polycystic ovaries and the medical management of gynaecological problems and is now the Lead Clinician for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology as well as being the member of the British Menopause Society, British Fertility Society and British Society for Psychosexual Gynaecology and Andrology. She is also the Vice President of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and ex-Chairman of the Examination Committee at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. |
